2008 Richard A. King Award Winner
The City of St. Joseph’s commitment to provide public financing in the form of Industrial Revenue Bonds and Tax Increment Financing were key factors in Triumph’s decision to locate its corporate headquarters and production plant in the St. Joseph Stockyards area, resulting in the creation of 2,400 jobs and the economic rebirth of a blighted area. The City’s innovative financing, commitment to building a strong public/private partnership, and its collaborative efforts with other agencies and organizations serves as a prime example of economic development at its best. The Richard A. King Award is presented annually to a person, company, project or municipality that in the opinion of the Board of Directors has made a significant contribution to economic development in Missouri. Nominations will be solicited annually, and the award winner will be recognized at MEDFA’s Annual Conference in June. Nominees will display one or more of the following characteristics:
